For Jo there's no beach but Edisto. Jo doesn't remember a time in her life when there was no Edisto. That is entirely plausible since her parents bought the lot on which her home now stands about two weeks after she was born. Jo's dad soon began building what was to become her family's Edisto Beach home. Her mom reported that Jo's brother, her cousins, and their friends rusted two strollers out whilst entertaining Jo by running in and out of the surf while she rode and cheered gleefully.

Although Jo's adult life took her away from this idyllic island, she returned to her Edisto roots about five years ago. She has worked with Charleston County schools and continues to help Edisto's children when and where she can. Jo currently serves as a consultant with the family literacy program at Jane Edwards School here on Edisto.About two years ago friends looking for their Edisto home contacted Jo and asked her to help them find it. Jo placed her license (She obtained her first real estate license in 1978) with Edisto Realty, a firm with deep Edisto roots, and has been giving both sales and listing clients detail-oriented personal service ever since.

Jo is also enthusiastic about her church, The Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island, which boasts one of America's oldest continuing congregations. Visitors are welcomed and encouraged to worship in the newly restored 1830 National Historic Register edifice that the local Presbyterians call home.

No, there has never been any time in Jo's life when Edisto didn't open her welcoming arms to nurture Jo or to sooth the wounds of the world. Edisto has been and will continue to be a family blessing throughout the years. Won't you join Jo in this still unspoiled paradise?
