Have you seen “Dear John” ? Edisto Realty Goes to the Movies
Feb 10th, 2010Over the years many movies have been filmed on Edisto Island. The latest “Dear John” is smashing box office records across the country. So what’s the Edisto Realty connection? During filming lead actor Tatum Channing and Lead Actress Amada Seigfield spent their free time in ocean front beach homes from Edisto Realty.
Its actually quite a tradition. During filming of the hit “The Patriot” Edisto Realty provided lodging for the stars. “The Patriot” a revolutionary war thriller starring Mel Gibson shot many of its scenes on Botany Bay Plantation, now a wildlife management area open to the public. Remains of at least one set are still visible from the the riding tour, although its not marked.
Roughly at the same time “Beggar Vance” starring Matt Damon and Charlize Theron and directed by Robert Redford had major portions shot on Edisto. Again the film company turned to Edisto Realty for quality accommodations and quiet efficiency.
Largely because Edisto remains natural and undeveloped while offering a nice place to stay with great places to eat film companies will continue to seek us out. We love it, and our autograph collection is growing nicely.
