Shopping Can Be
Fun Again!

Shopping on Edisto Island

You won’t find super-centers or chain stores here, unless you want to count our locally owned True Value Hardware store. There are no fast food chains, unless you count the Subway at the EZShop on the corner and certainly no “quickie lubes”. Edisto’s shopping is mostly locally owned and looks to provide you with the necessities… which to us includes art, books, fishing gear and bait, and things like kites and sun tan lotion.

If you can’t buy it here you probably don’t really need it. But relax… if you want those other things, Charleston is only an hour away. The Holy City provides an amazing variety of shopping opportunities in addition to its wonderful historic sites.

Sweet Grass Baskets

Edisto’s Sweet Grass Basket ladies can be found in several locations along Hwy. 174 just look for their road side stands. This art form was brought over with the slaves, passed down from generation to generation, and it remains one of the low country’s signatures. If you want a true low country gift, nothing will surpass one of these intricate baskets.
